My birth plan
I'm almost 27 weeks and still feeling great! Last week we went to the doc and every thing seemed to be fine! My blood pressure, my belly measurement, and the baby's heart beat are all perfect as the doc said. Keith mentioned about me being very energetic! The doc told us it's a rare thing that some pregnant women go through, and that I should enjoy it while it lasts! Later, Keith smiled at me and kept repeating the "rare thing"... he said it's not a surprise that I'd find myself in a "rare situation" since I'm not a common girl. I like the idea of not being common so I take that as a compliment!
Last week I also made Keith watch "A Baby Story" from TLC. It's a show about the labor process. Unfortunately, that day they showed only the ones that had an epidural. Very funny though how all those moms have the same comments after getting one: they were in heaven, or walking on rainbow.... Keith laughed and after that he was very fan of me getting one! He worries that the pain will drive me to call him names.... Well, we talked about the possibilities we have. I told him after reading many books and blogs and talking to many people, I conclude there are two extreme ends. One that is totally against to an epidural, and the one that is totally favor. He asked me where I was and I said right in the middle! Honestly, I understand the two sides, but I think people can be stuck to one idea and when things don't go the way expected it becomes such a big deception! I think for now my plan is to go and see what happens. If my labor progresses quickly I might not want an epidural, but if it takes too long, or if the pain is driving me to loose my mind I might get the drug :) I want to be open since I don't know what to expect. My mom went through all the labor pain for hours and at the end she needed a c-section. If she knew she'd end up with a c-section she'd choose the epidural from the beginning. I also have a friend that wanted a natural labor and couldn't get one cause the baby didn't turn. It was a big deception for her. So, I don't want the big day to become a deception if some thing doesn't go the way expected. And if I give I look to my entire life, I know things almost never happened as I expected. There was most of the time a surprise waiting for me! Therefore, I want to see the big day as the best joyful (however I know is going to be painful) day of my life, so no matter how I'll have my baby, as long as I have a healthy one, I'll be content!
So, I guess that's my birth plan for now (things may change though since I still have three months ahead)! Now let's cross fingers and pray that I don't call my hubby names... well I told him not to take it personally if that happens :)

Hahahaha... my friends had to remind me I'm prego!
Being pregnant is such an interesting process! There are days that I feel tired and want to take a long nap, and there are days that I'm so "high" that I completely forget it. Last night I had so much fun with friends playing games, that they had to remind me to take it easy! Even Keith said, "Don't forget you're carrying a baby!" Don't worry though, I didn't do any extravaganza! I'm just so happy that I'm having a baby that I feel great! I don't know how to express it, but it's a wonderful joy! And I'm glad that for now I still have energy! I don't know how long it will last, but for now I'll just enjoy it!
Baby Nicholas is doing good! One thing that I've noticed - he likes music! Well, at least he reacts to it! Every time we play for him he kicks. I know I said he kicks alot, but sometimes when he's not kicking he starts it when we play music!
PS. Today is my hubby's birthday!
Happy b-day, more!

killing two birds with one stone
I'm on my 23th week and feeling very good! Yesterday I even worked on our backyard with my hubby. I was dealing with all the terrible weeds we have... I didn't realized how much I had worked until my legs starting hurting this morning. Nothing to worry about, I'm just sore for all the squats I did to pull/dig out the weeds.... and since squat is one of the exercise that I have to do to help ease the labor (if is there really any way to do that :) it's all good. Mommy here gets her exercise done while the backyard gets cleaned up.
Baby is doing fine too. He moves all the time! Last time we went to the doctor, it took a while to hear his heart beat, because he didn't stop moving! We heard so many kicks though, that the doctor laughed and said, "Wow, it's hard to keep up with him!" When the doc finally got his heart beat, it was just perfect! I wonder if my baby is going to be an active one... my mom said I was just like him. I guess I better pull all the weeds out so my legs get the strength to keep up with him!

Not more recreating the past!
Last Saturday Keith and I had a wonderful time with our friends! We all went to the dog beach with their dog and their baby! Then, later we spent time playing games! I enjoyed seeing my friend jumping around and yelling to her neighbors that she had won the Clue game after loosing so many times playing Sorry. That was a long and fun day!
Driving back home, Keith and I were talking about how much fun we had. Since it takes us at least 50 minutes to get home, we had a plenty of time to chat and I realized something: past months ago I was complaining how lonely some times it is to live in California. The reason I complained it wasn't because I don't have friends, but because I wanted what I had in Brazil during my single days. Most of my friends lived close by, so it was so easy to just hang out all the time. They were also single, so no responsibility holding us, besides work and school. Now, I'm married, expecting, and living in a wonderful house but far from all my new friends, well at least a 50 minutes drive. The idea of not having them all the time drove me to feel isolated for while, but lately I realized that is silly, cause I still got good friends that I know I can count on. I'm very blessed and should definitely stop complaining!
I've seen people spending so much energy trying to recreate what they had in the past with their family and friends and I'd always had a hard time to understand them, because I'm always open to the new things! However, I've never noticed that I was doing the same thing when I had the expectation of having the exactly same relationships from my past. It is interesting how sometimes we want to hold on to our pasts so bad, working so hard to recreate those special moments, that we don't realize the wonderful life and people we have in the present! And I'm not saying those special moments ain't important! God knows how important they are! They shaped me to be who I am today; however, it's time to let them go and enjoy what I got! I'm glad I finally had my realization moment!
So, for 2010, no more recreating the past!
And here are some pics from Saturday!

- Few bad tears!
- I met talented and wonderful new people!
- and so many other things....
I thank the Sovereign for all the goodies of 2009!
Now, for 2010:
"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity. . ." Ephesians 5:15-16.
In my morning prayer, I was looking for a verse for the new year. I hope as the new adventures come in 2010, I'll have the wisdom to let Christ shine on me, making the most of every opportunity that I might face through my journey. I pray to be wise as a woman, as a wife, as a mother, as a daughter, as an artist, as a friend, and as a member of my society.
May 2010 be full of wonderful surprises to everyone!!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!
We had a wonderful dinner on Christmas Eve...
(Ceia de Natal....)
And on Christmas morning, before we opened out gifts, we spent
some time celebrating Jesus' birthday! We had a new tradition now...
everyone needed to choose and read one verse or passage from the bible that
refers to Jesus' birthday! It was a very neat and emotional moment!

Time for the gifts!
(Hora de abrir os presentes)
Some gifts for mommy and baby!
(Alguns presentes para mamae e o bebe)
Nicholas got some hand made boots by grandma Turner
(A vovo Turner fez botinhas para o Nicholas)
